Benefits of Microneedling

Microneedling is a quick and effective treatment. It can be done in as quick as an hour with numbing. This fairly new treatment helps with improving conditions like acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles,  pore size, brown spots, stretch marks, and pigment issues. It’s also been referred to as collagen induction therapy.

Essentially we are using tiny needling to prick the dermis of the skin this process causes light wounds which produce collagen while they heal. This procedure can be done with PRP or platelet rich plasma, vitamin C or stem cells. The downtime associated with the treatment is minimal we recommend staying out of the sun for 48 hours. After about 2-3 days your skin should heal and have a nice glow. We recommend doing this treatment several times to ensure the best results typically 3-6.

To learn more about micro needling or other treatments offered here at MetroMD you can contact us at 323-285-5300 or email us at info@metromd.net. Our team of doctors and nurses can help answer your questions and address any medical needs you have.

Skin Care Treatments

Taking proper care of your skin requires a lot of time and effort. From proper dieting, hydration to avoiding certain products and environments. Sometimes all of these efforts and trails fall short and patients still are not satisfied with their skin. At MetroMD we provide the tools and resources to our patients enabling them to live a lifestyle that is correlated with overall health and a strong healthy appearance.

However, in some cases, years of mistreatment of the skin can lead to scars and blemishes in the skin. For these cases, we recommend a variety of treatments depending on the individual. Today we will give you a breakdown of the various skin treatments offered here at MetroMD!

The C02 Fractional Laser

The C02 Fractional Laser has been a very popular and effective skin treatment laser treatment here at MetroMD. The laser begins by deeply penetrating and removing the skin’s outer layer, the epidermis. Targeting a specific damage area, the CO2 laser will rejuvenate the skin one layer at a time. The resurfacing technique creates a tightening effect through collagen stimulation. As the process continues, the damaged skin will show signs of improvement by greatly reducing the appearance of the acne scars, blemishes, and wrinkles.

The Carbon Peel

The carbon peel is a revolutionary laser treatment that is completely painless with minimal-to-zero downtime. It is highly beneficial for people with oily skin, blackheads, enlarged pores, dull skin, and acne on the face or body. It is also an excellent way to exfoliate and refresh your skin, providing an instant refreshed appearance and leaving skin feeling softer, smoother and firmer.

A layer of liquid carbon is applied to the skin, where it penetrates deep into the pores. Laser light is highly attracted to the carbon particles. When the laser is passed over the area, it destroys the carbon, taking dead skin cells, contaminants and oil with it.

Microneedling

Microneedling is an effective anti-aging treatment using tiny, short needles that puncture the skin superficially to rebuild collagen and elastin. The needles penetrate tiny holes into the skin to allow for ideal absorption of skincare or PRP (platelet rich plasma) and produce a tightening effect of the skin.

When an injury occurs on the skin, the body’s natural response is to produce a flood of collagen and elastin to go in and repair the damage. Using the handheld micro-needling device, your practitioner creates controlled micro injuries which leads to multiple cosmetic and skin health benefits.

PRP and Stem Cell Therapy

Stem cell and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) both have the potential to completely reverse numerous physical ailments. Injuries and arthritis are two examples of conditions that can be effectively treated through this advanced therapy.

PRP therapy is Platelet Rich Plasma therapy, a non surgical treatment that uses a person’s own blood to treat a number of conditions. Some of the conditions is has been used to treat are: Arthritis, bone or spine injuries, hamstring or tendon injuries, hair restoration, and even wrinkling skin.

PRP therapy starts with collection of the patient’s blood, which is then placed in a centrifuge, where the platelet-rich plasma is separated from the other components of the blood. Platelets are the body’s natural supplier of growth factors, which stimulate soft tissue repair, increase blood flow, and promote stem cell generation which assists the body in healing itself.

Platelets are injected into the damaged area, where they encourage and enhance the body’s natural healing processes. It is a fairly quick procedure, often taking less than an hour, and is often an outpatient treatment. Due to its success in repairing tendons, ligaments, and muscle damage, it has become increasingly popular in treating sports injuries.

Stem Cell Therapy continues to be one of the fastest paced medical research and new techniques to repair damaged cells in an individual who has experienced cell damage. Adult stem cell therapy and research may soon hold the key to cures for a plethora of diseases. damages due to disease. The most common use of stem cell therapy is bone marrow transplants. Some newer therapies are being derived from umbilical cord blood.

If you have problems with your joints or have another common injury, you may be in a lot of pain. Every time you move, you may feel a stinging sensation. You may not want to see a specialist in Los Angeles because you dont want to go under the knife. This is perfectly normal, but thanks to a cell therapy specialist, you dont have to worry about being operated on at all.

A cell therapy specialist can use adult stem cells and blood platelet treatments for different types of injuries, such as osteoarthritis. HGH Therapy for Women

As women age, and particularly during menopause, hormonal production tends to decrease, which can result in mood swings, elevated risk of disease, increased aging, and other complications. With the help of hormone therapy, women can combat many of the negative menopausal symptoms, and keep their bodies youthful and healthy. Are you getting enough sleep?

Sleep is an overlooked aspect of healthcare and overall wellness. Learning and adapting your sleeping patterns can help aid in a stronger immune system while giving you more energy and focus. Sleep is often overlooked in Western medicine, when is the last time your doctor asked you about your sleeping patterns?

Most adults need 7 to 8 hours of good quality sleep on a regular schedule each night. If you are struggling with this you should try to make changes to your routine. If you can’t find enough time to sleep notice any specific habits you have before bed; eating certain foods, electronic light exposure, etc. Work to find a system that works for you and turn it into a nightly ritual before going to bed.

Getting enough sleep isn’t only about total hours of sleep. It’s also important to get good quality sleep on a regular schedule so you feel rested when you wake up. Getting enough sleep is directly correlated in the healing and repair of your heart and blood vessels. Ongoing lack of sleep or a sleep deficiency can be linked to an increased risk of heart disease, kidney disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, and stroke.

At MetroMD we strive to take a well-rounded approach to healthcare and want our patients to have a deeper understanding of their health. Learn more about our services and treatments on http://www.metromd.net (our website) or call us at 323-285-5300.

Why You Should Be Getting B-12 Injections at MetroMD

B-12 Injections are becoming more and more common among health-conscious patients who may be too busy or unable to get proper nutrients in their day to day lives. B-12 is an essential vitamin according to a study done by Harvard stated;

“The human body needs vitamin B12 to make red blood cells, nerves, DNA, and carry out other functions. The average adult should get 2.4 micrograms a day. Like most vitamins, B12 cannot be made by the body. Instead, it must be gotten from food or supplements. Over the course of two months, a 62-year-old man developed numbness and a “pins and needles” sensation in his hands, had trouble walking, experienced severe joint pain, began turning yellow and became progressively short of breath. The cause was lack of vitamin B12 in his bloodstream”

At MetroMD we don’t just use any B-12 we use the highest grade available known as Methylcobalamin. This is a form of vitamin B12. It can be used to replace levels in patients who don’t have enough and may also be used to treat certain conditions such as neuropathy, ALS, and certain types of anemia.

B-12 injections are virtually painless and take less than 2 minutes. For more information check out our video below on B-12 injections. For B-12 injections there is no need to schedule an appointment, walk-ins are welcome! To purchase a package of B-12 injections give us a call at 323-285-5300.

Tips on Wellness from MetroMD Doctors!

I’m sure you have heard the saying ‘wellness or healing begins from within”, but what does that exactly mean? This phrase common among naturopathic doctors is the core emphasis of natural medicine. That is creating an ideal healthy environment so that our bodies can fight and avoid disease without relying on external factors such as surgery or pharmaceutical drugs.

This basis that our bodies are capable of healing in the right conditions dates back tens of thousands of years before mainstream medical treatments became available many doctors would look to natural remedies using ingredients from nature.

Take Tumeric for example, a very powerful and undervalued spice. The main ingredient curcumin is a very strong anti-inflammatory substance that can help with a variety of ailments. This can be an alternative to over the counter ibuprofen or other anti-inflammatory medication.

At MetroMD, we use a unique collection of natural and western medicine to help properly diagnose and treat patients. Focusing on a treatment based approach with a heavy emphasis on diet, nutrition, and mentality. These pillars of health are often overlooked but aid heavily in the healing or preventative process.

To learn more about our team and approach at MetroMD email us at info@metromd.net with any questions. You can always call our office as well to schedule a more in-depth consultation with our doctors (323)-285-5300.
