The C02 Fractional laser is great for rejuvenating skin and erasing fine lines and wrinkles. This laser helps create new skin by resurfacing a thin layer of skin with a controlled burn. This causes the skin to heal which in return produces collagen.

This is great for anyone with aging skin, the laser can target various scars, pigmentations and other blemish seen on older skin types. For the best results, we would need to do 3-6 sessions as this is a treatment that needs several sessions.

Unlike our other lasers, this is a more intensive procedure as it requires 2-3 weeks of downtown for the skin to fully regrow and heal. Treatments typically span between 8-12 weeks as it takes some time for the skin to heal between each session.

If you have any questions or think you would be a good candidates for our C02 laser contact us today. You can contact us for a consult or email us with any questions at info@metromd.net

Stem Cell Therapy for Degenerative Disease

A degenerative disease results in cells, tissue, or organs diminishing over a period of time, commonly due to environmental and behavioral factors as well as genetic predispositions. Effects of degenerative diseases can range from something as small as a rash, to a life threatening condition such as heart disease. Regardless of the severity, degenerative diseases are nothing short of debilitating. However, stem cell therapy is now being used to help stop these torturous ailments from progressing, and can ever reserve the damage they’ve caused.

Stem cells are different from other cells because they are undifferentiated, giving them the remarkable ability to differentiate into a specialized cell. Stem cells are also able to self-regenerate and renew through cell-division, even after long periods of inactivity. When a stem cell divides, each new cell has the potential either to remain a stem cell or become another type of cell with a more specialized function, such as a muscle cell, a red blood cell, or a brain cell.

The ability to regenerate and renew parts of the human body that were once diminishing is now possible through stem cell therapy!

At MetroMD we tailor our stem cell treatments to each patient in order to achieve the most optimal result. We offer FDA banked cord blood stem cells for injection or IV drip administration, as well as bone marrow stem cell treatment, which we harvest from the upper iliac bone of the specific patient receiving the treatment.

Botox for TMJ

When you think of Botox you most likely do not associate it with a medical treatment. Although it does has many uses as a neuromodulator outside of the cosmetic realm. This is because the effects of Botox limit muscle function and movement this is what creates the wrinkle-free look most people are seeking when wanting Botox treatment.

This effect can be very useful for those who suffer from muscle related pains in the face such as TMJ. TMJ also known as Temporomandibular joint disorder is a common disorder associated with jaw tension and discomfort. Many patients experience these symptoms late and night or while asleep. Only to wake up with a very sore and tender jaw.

Botox had been used to minimize this feeling of lockjaw and can relieve tension in the jaw line muscles. At MetroMD we have seen a few patients who have sought out Botox for the sole purpose of treating their TMG. The results typically last anywhere from 3-5 months based on the patient’s metabolism and the number of units used to treat them.

If you suffer from tension headaches or have been diagnosed with TMJ Botox could be useful alternative to the pain. Contact us today with any questions about Botox or to book your appointment!

Stem Cells the “Magic Cells” a treatment for MS?

Stem Cells have been given the nickname of “Magic Cells.” This is because unlike other cells, stem cells are undifferentiated, especially in early stages of growth and development; giving them the remarkable ability to differentiate or essentially “become” any cell necessary. Stem cells are also able to self-regenerate and renew through cell-division, which makes them key players in groundbreaking medical treatments for life-threatening diseases.

Recent research using stem cells to treat Multiple Sclerosis (MS) has shown remarkable results. MS is an autoimmune disease that disrupts the flow of information from the brain to the body. Often times, the myelin is compared to the insulation coating that surrounds electrical wires.  When the surrounding protective myelin is damaged and the nerve fibers are exposed, the messages traveling along the nerve become slow or potentially blocked. Stem Cells are being used to repair the myelin and restore the quality of life to those people affected by this disease.

Compression Recovery Boots for your Legs

Compression recovery is a popular trend amongst trainers and athletes. This form of recovery involves air compression around muscles and joints. Compression recovery boots are used for recovering and rejuvenating the legs. This treatment is also known as the Peristaltic Pulse Dynamic Compression system.

It works by filling the air chambers in the boots with air causing it to compress your legs. It starts at your feet then crawls up to your lower and upper leg. The compression of your legs results in more pressure in the veins, this improves the venous return of waste and blood flow.

The lactic acid that has built up in your bloodstream and in your muscles when the production of it exceeds its own clearance rate. This will give the burning sensation you get during high-intensity training or workouts. Recovery boots speed up the clearance of lactic acid and help improve blood flow through your legs.

Although this sounds like a great recovery for athletes it’s also very common amongst those who are working on their feet or are heavily active. Recovery compression systems are becoming more and more widespread amongst everyday people who aren’t necessarily training for anything but do feel the burden of work and life through the tension in their legs.

At MetroMD we offer recovery compression in addition to other forms of muscular therapy. The recovery boots are used on a session basis ranging from 20-30 minutes a session.

PRP w/ Microneedling

Microneedling is a minimally invasive skin treatment intended to restore collagen and elastin production and minimize fine lines and wrinkles. This is achieved using a device called the Rejuva-pen, which creates controlled, micro-injuries or channels on the skin. During the body’s natural healing process, collagen and elastin are produced.

When we incorporate your own PRP (platelet rich plasma) to this treatment the results escalate to beautiful proportions. To obtain your plasma, sample of your blood is needed. We spin the sample in a centrifuge to separate the plasma from the actual blood. Your body’s plasma is naturally very rich with growth factor and cytokines; both of which are essential in promoting the regeneration of soft tissue. That plasma is used as a lubricant to the Rejuva-Pen so that the plasma is immediately absorbed into the micro-injuries and channels.
For most patients, recovery is very painless and quick. For 72 hours you should refrain from sun exposure and intense exercise.
Collagen production builds over time usually ranging from 4-12 weeks. For best results, 4-6 treatments are recommended.
