According to an article in the New England Journal of Medicine, acne is said to affect 70% to 90% of adults. As such, there is increased request for new treatments continue to increase. The quality someone life is greatly impacted when scarring occurs due to acne. A new microneedling device is essential to the reduction of acne scars. It is used along with a stem cell serum.

Use of microneedling helps stimulate new elastin and collagen found in the reticular dermis. The stem cells have growth factors that help heal wounds, regenerate aged skin, repair damaged tissues and reinvigorate skin growth.

Treatment using microneedling is apt for most skin types and colors. In addition, it does not have a risk of burns that are associated with laser and chemical peels. Nonetheless, when the acne is active, it is not suitable. The bacteria may spread making the condition worse. However, when used with plant stem cell serum, it is effective in the rejuvenation of the skin and improves the appearance of acne scars. With a minimum of five treatments, acne scarring can be greatly reduced.

Furthermore, there should be maintenance treatments every 3 to 6 months based on the patient’s needs. Before using the microneedling pen, the skin should be disinfected thoroughly using isopropyl alcohol. The stem cell serum can be applied using the hands in circular motions to be conveyed into the dermis. The dermatologist can start at the forehead downwards.

The process should be repeated once the dermatologist is through using the microneedling pen. After the treatment, a face mask containing cold hyaluronic should be applied to hydrate all areas where there is inflammation.

Dr. Kwon Han Jin postulated that after use of stem cells with microneedling process is complete; LED light therapy can be used to activate the applied stem cells as well as reduce erythema. The main advantage is that the procedure provides for fast recovery. Any swelling lasts only for a few days. After about five treatments, the acne scarring should have improved.
