Los Angeles based PRP and Microneedling the Safer Alternative!

Many of our patients ask us if they can get botox or filler while pregnant or breastfeeding? The answer is always no! We definitely do not recommend this as we do not want to risk having any effects on the fetus as there is no conclusive evidence to show that the substances used in fillers or botox will not cross the blood-brain between the mother and baby systemic. For this reason, we do not perform or recommend any fillers or neuromodulators for women who are pregnant, breastfeeding or are planning a pregnancy. However, we do have alternative safe treatments that have no effect on the fetus. The PRP with Microneedling treatment is a natural method of collagen production and helps reduce fine lines. The PRP uses plasma rich platelets taken from your blood and applies them as growth factors to the area of treatment. These growth factors have shown to regenerate tissue, skin and hair follicles. Additionally, the PRP and Microneedling treatment can be applied with Vitamin C and Stem Cell plant-based serums. This is a great alternative for anyone who is pregnant for planning on having a child. PRP and Microneedling are both great natural alternatives to Fillers/Botox!

Beverly Hills Based Micro-Needling for Anti-Aging

Microneedling is an effective anti-aging treatment using tiny, short needles that puncture the skin superficially to rebuild collagen and elastin. The needles penetrate tiny holes into the skin to allow for ideal absorption of skincare or PRP (platelet rich plasma) and produce a tightening effect of the skin. When an injury occurs on the skin, the body’s natural response is to produce a flood of collagen and elastin to go in and repair the damage. Using the handheld micro-needling device, your practitioner creates controlled micro injuries which leads to multiple cosmetic and skin health benefits. Microneedling Benefits:

  • Softens stretch marks
  • Increases firmness and tightness
  • Reduces hyperpigmentation and pore size
  • Minimizes broken capillaries and spider veins
  • Improves skin texture and appearance of scars

Recovery is fast and patients typically see best results in skin tone after the second or third treatment. Microneedling treatments may be repeated every four to six weeks with continued improvements of the following months. Immediately after treatment, you may look as though you have a moderate to severe sunburn and your skin may feel warmer and tighter than usual. Avoid direct sunlight 24-48 hours after your treatment. It is recommended to use sunscreen with an SPF 25 or greater. For at least 3 days post-treatment, do not use any Alpha Hydroxyl Acids, Retinol, Vitamin A, Vitamin C or anything perceived as active skincare but be sure to protect your skin with SPF 25+.

Microneedling for Skin Maintenance

Microneedling for Skin Maintenance is a great treatment. Over the years we have done thousands of micro-needling treatments and with tremendous results. But did you know this is a treatment that can be used not only to correct problems but to also maintain the skin.

At MetroMD we recommend doing a light micro-needling treatment monthly. This is because our skin ages no matter what, we are exposed to sun damage, and the overall environmental stress on the skin is dramatic. Utilizing microneedling on a monthly basis can help rejuvenate the skin and prevent further damage in the future.

Microneedling works in two ways. One way is it actually helps exfoliate away damaged skin. The process itself breaks the top layer of skin and allows the body to exfoliate it away. This can help remove dead skin as well as damaged cells. Secondly, the controlled trauma caused by the micro needling stimulates new cells to form, collagen to be produced and overall enhances the skin.

This treatment is truly one of our favorites and everyone should see how this can change their skin over time. Doing this monthly is an amazing procedure to add to your monthly skin care.
